Christian Louboutin Heels be with fashion peer

Now,it’s the time for high heels to go geek. The best example is Christian Louboutin heels.

Why geeks become so popular for high heel industry in recent years? This is a big deal because for many years the fancy designers haven’t really recognized geeks as a niche of people who is worth catering to, and it’s neat to see that this is slowly changing. After all, we all know that someday geeks will inherit the earth, and now we can sport the same couture style as our non-geek friends, only with a geeky spin on it.

If you are a cosmo girl, you know that Christian Louboutin heels are famous for three things: 1) Being the hottest looking vans shoes ever made 2) Being the most uncomfortable shoes ever made 3) Being the most expensive shoes ever made.

Well, they aren’t the most expensive ones ever made, but they are up there. These shoes for example sell for $1,695. I’ve written about circuit board shoes before, but they weren’t the kind you could actually wear. These are definitely wearable.

They even created a matching handbag which sells for $1,595, and a man’s version of the same shoe which costs $1,295. I put pictures of both below. When I looked at these shoes for the first time, I instantly fell in love with them. There is just something about the way Christian Louboutin heels are shaped and refined that make them irresistible, even in pictures.

Even though the price is high but it’s really very hot. I guess that’s the point. These are definitely going on my Christmas list this year. The official name for these Christian Louboutin heels is Lady Peeps. Being a geek is getting more and sexier.

A Oregon family saves 8 kids from Oregon Lake

The thing happened in Portland, Ore where a family gathered for a reunion pulled 8 Oregon children from a lake with a steep drop-off where 2 girls already had sunk to the muddy bottom, a fire official said.

The family saved the children from danger by passing each one from person to person until they reached shore.

It was on Saturday that 8 children entered Henry Hagg Lake, but none of them could swim. So, there occurred this dramatic rescue.

“I have been through every kind of rescue scenario you can probably dream,” Mesenbrink said. “Never have I seen this sort of outcome. A trained team would have done no better.”

The children, who range from 6 to 13, were taken by ambulance to hospitals with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, The Oregonian reported.

The newspaper said that 2of the girls were unconscious when members of the family pulled them from the lake bottom.

Evan Gibson, a member of the family that rescued the children, said he looked up from washing his feet in the lake to see a small boy flailing his arms from the water

Gibson said he yelled, “’He needs help!’” as he sprinted into the water. Other family members followed, including three sisters and his nephew.

“We realized we had no idea how many were underwater,” Michelle Rushing said.

First, the mothers of two of the children were pulled from the lake. Like their kids, the mothers didn’t know how to swim, the fire chief said.

The rescuers then found the two girls on the lake bottom and passed them both back to shore.

Rescuer Lura Kirby was elated when the eyes of one girl began to flutter and she started coughing.

“I didn’t think they would wake,” Kirby said. “I think there were angels there.”

Law enforcement officials declined to identify the family of the rescued children, citing the family’s wish for privacy.

When Mesenbrink arrived, he found the Gibson family huddled with the rescued children, whose parents hugged them and repeatedly thanked the Gibsons between racking sobs.

“The kids are doing great, quite well,” Mesenbrink said. “I’m amazed.”

What makes Apple made Three iPhone 5 Models

Compared with iPone 4s, iPone 5 will come in three models.

Apple Company has succeeded in making its latest iPhone compatible with LTE networks. But it’s not all good news for the company’s customers. Due to 4G LTE fragmentation, Apple has had to make three different models of the iPhone 5. Where the iPhone 4S was a dual GSM/CDMA device, meaning one model for all carriers, the LTE-enabled iPhone 5 comes in two separate GSM models and one CDMA model. This means that consumers will have fewer choices when switching carriers and that LTE access will be limited when traveling abroad.

Since carriers utilize different radio frequencies (also known as frequency bands) for LTE service, Apple has had to diversify its iPhone 5 portfolio. This largely has to do with the fact that 4G LTE is still in the early stages of development, compared to more mature networks like 2G and 3G. It’s a messy situation that Android handset makers like Samsung and HTC have been dealing with when it comes to their 4G LTE devices. For example, the Samsung Galaxy SIII comes in nine model variants, five of which are specific to North American carriers.

The three iPhone 5 models include: GSM model A1428 that supports LTE Bands 4 and 17;GSM model A1429 that supports LTE Bands 1, 3, and 5; and CDMA model A1429 that supports LTE Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, and 25.

In a view of laymen, this means an iPhone 5 user who wanted to jump from, say, AT&T to Verizon or vice versa, would have to buy a new handset, since AT&T runs a GSM network and Verizon is CDMA. And where owners of GSM handsets previously enjoyed wide compatibility with foreign networks, LTE fragmentation means that AT&T customers using an iPhone 5 in Europe, for example, won’t be able to take advantage of LTE speeds while abroad and will instead get kicked down to the 3G network.

“With 2G, pretty much everything has matured to use four main frequency bands,” IHS analyst Francis Sideco told Wired. “And the components have matured enough so there are a lot of multiband components out there. 3G is in a similar state, where the bands are known and components are becoming more integrated with multiband capability. When we get to LTE, neither one of those things is true. The bands that are being selected by operators globally have not coalesced, nor are the components mature enough where they are integrating to the same degree as far as multiband capability.”

The GSM A1428 model appears to be made specifically for AT&T, which is the only carrier that uses both LTE Bands 4 and 17. It will also support T-Mobile’s U.S. LTE network as well as several Canadian networks. But don’t expect any LTE service outside of North America — currently no carriers in other countries use Bands 4 or 17. Even though GSM networks are more common worldwide, this particular iPhone 5 model is not a global phone when it comes to LTE support. Instead, Apple has opted to make a second GSM model for other countries. Model A1429 supports the three more common LTE Bands in places like Asia and Europe, but none for North America use.

The CDMA phone, however, is more of a global device. It supports the same three LTE bands as the non-U.S. GSM phone, as well as the two main bands used by U.S. carriers Verizon and Sprint. Another benefit to the CDMA phone is that it supports GSM/EDGE radio frequencies, while the GSM phones do not support CDMA frequencies. Unfortunately, that GSM support is limited to international use for stateside customers. What is oddly missing from all three phones is LTE support for a large portion of Western Europe, which uses LTE Band 7.

When asked why Apple chose to make two GSM phones, instead of one that could work globally with LTE networks, Sideco pointed to the bands each of the phones supports. It could be that there are no multiband components for AT&T frequencies (Bands 4 and 17), while there were for Verizon and Sprint’s LTE networks. We won’t, however, know for sure until we get a peek inside the iPhone 5 models.

“After we’ve done a teardown and know exactly which companies have been used for the different models, we’ll actually be able to provide more insight to what might have driven these decisions,” Sideco said. “It could come from many different factors.”

Mars rover ready to resume trek

“The Initial tests stage is nearing finished, NASA's Curiosity Mars rover is ready to resume its trek toward nearby rock formations, and on the lookout for suitable targets,” engineers say.

Before resuming a slow trek toward a nearby rock formation, the Curiosity Mars rovers are wrapping up a series of robot arm calibration and motion tests this weekend, on the lookout for a suitable stone to reach out and touch in an initial round of "contact science," officials said today.

The goal is to make sure the arm can precisely position a sensitive camera and an X-ray spectrometer as required for "hands on" geological observations, including eventual operations with a sample scoop and a compact drill. With the tests nearly complete, the arm has performed in near flawless fashion.

A camera mounted on Curiosity's robot arm captured this view of the rover's undercarriage and its three right-side wheels with Mount Sharp rising in the distance.

"It's sol 37 on Curiosity on Mars and she is currently sleeping but is very healthy and preparing to complete her absolute final day of characterization activity," mission manager Jennifer Trosper told reporters this afternoon.

"We've been talking about these characterization activities since we landed. These are early mission checkouts we use to incrementally test out the capabilities of the rover and that checkout period is for the purpose of fully commissioning Curiosity for the science mission. The success so far of these activities has been outstanding. Throughout every
phase of the checkouts, Curiosity has performed almost flawlessly."

Curiosity landed on the floor of Gale Crater on August 6. Engineers spent the first 16 days of the mission deploying various appendages, testing the rover's communications systems, updating its operating system software and checking out its instruments and updated motor control software.

Curiosity then began remotely inspecting rocks at its landing site before beginning a short, but time-consuming, drive to an area known as Glenelg where three different types of rocks come together. After covering the length of a football field or so, the rover paused last week for a series of robot arm tests. If the final checks go well, commands will be uplinked to resume the 1,300-foot trip to Glenelg.

A 1909 penny is one of the calibration targets used by Curiosity's Mars Hand Lens Imager -- MAHLI -- camera.

"Over the last week, we have essentially completed all but one of the robotic arm checkout activities," Trosper said. "From an engineering perspective, we were able to confirm our ability to move the arm to all our calibration targets as well as... key locations on the rover where we need to move the arm in order to perform operations, particularly sampling."

Assuming a final test tomorrow goes well, the plan Friday is to "drive, drive, drive until the science team finds the desired rock where we want to perform the first contact science observations with MAHLI and the APXS instrument," she said, referring to the Mars Hand Lens Imager and the Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer, both mounted in a turret on the end of the robot arm.

Engineers initially predicted it would take 25 sols to complete the initial checkouts "and it's taken us 26," Trosper said. "So, not bad."

Compared to earlier rovers, Curiosity initial progress is especially promising. For the Pathfinder mission, engineers typically lost about one in three sols where "we wouldn't accomplish what we intended to for some reason or another," Trosper said. "On Spirit and Opportunity, during the prime mission our loss-of-sol rate was about one in 10 sols.

In this close-up view of the penny, tiny dust grains can be seen below Lincoln's ear and the date that were blown up onto Curiosity by its landing rockets.

"Now on (Curiosity), we're doing even better than that, being only one sol behind our original plan after 36 sols of operations," Trosper said. "So, I think this is a great indication of the enormous amount of science exploration this rover's going to be able to do over the course of its two-year lifetime."

NASA unveiled striking new photographs Wednesday, including a panorama shot by the MAHLI camera at near ground level showing the undercarriage of the rover with its eventual target -- Mount Sharp -- rising in the background. Other photos showed covers opening and closing on the rover's upper deck exposing inlets where soil samples eventually will be deposited into a sophisticated analytical instrument.

Even an extreme close-up view of a 1909 penny is captured by the MAHLI camera, which serves as a calibration target. It is clearly visible that tiny dust grains blown up onto the spacecraft by its landing rockets. The resolution of the close-up image is 25 microns per pixel. If the camera can be positioned close enough to a potential target, which resolution could improve to 14 microns per pixel.

With the robot arm tests virtually complete, "we're headed towards Glenelg and we're trying to get to a location where we would find a rock to do contact science on," Trosper said. "So we will drive until the science team finds that rock, then we will stop and position the rover to do the contract science with APXS and MAHLI.

"Then we will continue to drive to another location, hopefully a sandy location where we can begin to scoop. That would be a few weeks after we get to the location for contact science and that's kind of our first sampling experience."

After initial scoop tests and sample collection runs, the final remaining hurdle will be to check out Curiosity's arm-mounted rock drill, which will be used to collect samples from the interiors of targeted rocks.

In 2013 Arrangement, a First: An Interleague Opener

Next season, there will have an original twist in terms of one of baseball’s traditional home openers.

The Reds and the Los Angeles Angels will play April 1 in Cincinnati, becoming the first teams to start their seasons with an interleague matchup.

“It’s a little strange, but Anaheim has a lot of big-name guys,” Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo said. “It’ll be Albert Pujols coming back for the first time. It’s a nice mix for us. It’s strange, but I’d rather do that than open with Milwaukee or someone in our division we see all the time.”

The Reds, the first professional baseball team, celebrate opening day with a parade and have opened all but four seasons at home: 1885, 1888, 1966 and 1990, according to Stats LLC.

Major League Baseball’s 2013 preliminary schedule, announced Wednesday, includes several format changes caused by the shift of the Astros to the American League. A National League franchise for its first 51 seasons, Houston starts A.L. play April 2 when it hosts cross-state rival Texas.

The Astros move from the N.L. Central to the A.L. West, creating six divisions of five teams each. Under a move announced last November, Houston will become only the second team since 1900 to switch leagues, following the Milwaukee Brewers’ entry to the N.L. for the 1998 season.

Because there will be 15 teams in each major league for the first time, interleague play is necessary nearly every day. Since its inception in 1997, interleague play had been mostly concentrated during periods in late May and June.

Eleven of the 15 series on the final weekend of the regular season, Sept. 27-29, will involve division rivalries. The exceptions have the Yankees at Houston, Milwaukee at the Mets, Detroit at Miami and Washington at Arizona.

M.L.B. is abandoning its two-year experiment with midweek openers, reverting to a Sunday night start in a nationally televised game on ESPN that will be determined later.

In another shift, the Yankees and the Mets for now are scheduled to open at home on the same day for the first time, with Boston visiting the Bronx on April 1 and San Diego playing in Queens.

“I think it’s kind of cool,” Mets third baseman David Wright said.

ESPN could move the Red Sox-Yankees opener to the March 31 Sunday night slot.

Under the new schedule format, a team plays 19 games against each division rival for a total of 76, and six or seven against each league opponent in the other two divisions for a total of 66. Each club will play 20 interleague games over eight series, with rivalry games — like the Cubs-White Sox and Dodgers-Angels — in consecutive two-game series during the week of May 27. That is down from a pair of three-game rivalry series.

“We played the Yankees more than anybody,” Mets Manager Terry Collins said. “That could be difficult. I think it’s starting to even out.”

PHILLIES 3, MARLINS 1 Jimmy Rollins hit a two-run homer and Cliff Lee pitched seven strong innings to lead streaking Philadelphia to its seventh straight win.

The host Phillies continued their push for an N.L. wild-card spot with a three-game sweep of the Marlins. Up next for the Phillies are four games in Houston against the N.L.-worst Astros.

Philadelphia came into the game four games out of a playoff spot in the always-changing wild-card standings. The Phillies  are on a season-high winning streak and have won 15 of 19 to move over .500 for the first time since they were 28-27 on June 3.

Rollins hit a two-run homer off Josh Johnson (8-12) in the seventh for a 3-1 lead.

Phillippe Aumont worked a scoreless eighth, and Jonathan Papelbon completed the four-hitter with his 34th save. Papelbon struck out Gorkys Hernandez with two on to end the game.

The five-time defending N.L. East champion Phillies have made an amazing run since they appeared out of contention at 37-51 on July 13. Fueled by a rotation that has found its groove, and unexpected contributions from role players, the Phillies have become one of baseball’s hottest teams.

Their 15-4 record since Aug. 23 is the best in the National League, and they are 21-8 in their last 29 home games.

Johnson took a no-hitter and a 1-0 lead into the sixth.

Orioles right-hander Jason Hammel will have a magnetic resonance imaging test Thursday to determine the extent of damage in his sore right knee.

Hammel left Tuesday night’s game against Tampa Bay in the fourth inning. He was making his second start since undergoing surgery on the same knee in July.
